I know how wonderful it is to walk in the woods. Living on the West Coast and enjoying the beauty of the woods in Oregon and Washington is truly one of the peaceful experiences I enjoy. Hopefully the new development will create an area of beauty around the stream and tunnel.

So sad to hear that his beautiful place is about to be 'developed' (wish I understood what people really think they're developing when they take away something lovely like your woods).

First of all, let me say how much I've enjoyed your comments on my "slices" the last few weeks. You truly have a way with words, even in a comment box!
Second, I feel your sadness. You paint such wonderful pictures of your memories with your words. I especially love the concept of a Frog Island. How lucky your children are to have had this beautiful nature in their lives. Hopefully, the upside of this will be that you've raised children who will take better care of the Earth than some of the people who came before them.
Finally, love the video clip! Will have to try that sometime!

Beaver Brook, right? I know those woods too, the high ancient oak groves and the vernal pools and the dark clear stream. Mike Kirby has written extensively about the Beaver Brook development--all of his stuff is archived at www.downstreet.net, ed shanahan's site--maybe we can persuade him to dig this stuff back up and post it to http://kirbyontheloose.blogspot.com.

Sorry to hear about the loss of nature. Interesting that nature all around me remains. I wonder what I would do if it were taken away. I have a bunch of video clips that I can send to Flickr too. I didn't at first, when I heard how little the pieces have to be. But usually less is more.
