The Rage Maker Comic Tool: Why We Teach

teaching comic
I saw Larry Ferlazzo mention this comic creator called Dan Awesome’s Rage Maker, which the New York Times featured in an article about the trend of venting via comics (I had not heard of that one, though). I had to give the tool a try, and thought: what could I rage about? How about an anti-rage? My comic is about the bashing of teachers, and how that one comment can make all of the difference in the world.

Peace (please),
Kevin

  1. Friday I worked with a group of 8th graders in my district on a poetry project. In the course of the short time I had with them, one young man quickly took the helm in helping his follow students come on board with recording their “found poetry” in PhotoStory3. As their class period came to an end, the student, unprompted, shared with me what an impact a 6th grade teacher had had on him. He attributed his interest and ability in technology as tool for creating (as opposed to simply consuming).

I’m pretty sure out there in Western Mass, there is a significant contingent of 8th graders that, two years later, still credit you as being the teacher who made a difference.

Thanks, Kevin, for another shot of inspiration:-)

  2. Oops…forgot to finish the sentence “He attributed his interest and ability in technology as tool for creating (as opposed to simply consuming) to that teacher.”
