This is for Slice of Life. Today, I mull over the news that Google will be shutting down Google Reader this summer, and it had me thinking about how RSS has become such an integral part of my information gathering around teaching and technology.

Oh no! Why on earth would they shut it down? I’m not sure I should be this devastated, but I seriously am!
Google says the numbers of folks using it doesn’t justify having it. More people use Twitter and other services, I guess. It’s an emotional connection, I think, to the ways we collect and gather information. I suggest we be patient and see what emerges as a replacement.
