Slice of Life/Day in a Sentence: Only A Slight Attempt at Bribery

It felt more like a bribe of the digital influencing age, a $40 Amazon gift card stuck inside the box of my $80 purchase with a note that indicated they would activate the card only after I posted a five-star review of the item and only if I refrained from ever mentioning in said review, said note or said gift card, both of which quickly ended up in the trash.

We came upon her on the path unexpectedly, as she was walking towards us with a soft-skinned hand drum in her right hand and a mallet in her left, quietly but rhythmically pulsating out a beat that riffed off the pace of her steady-walking feet.

We wandered (the forest), got lost (on new trails) and then found our way back (after a few hours) on what could only be described as a near perfect New England Spring Day.

Four hours of in-person teaching immediately followed by three straight hours of parent-teacher conferences on Zoom immediately followed by two hours of facilitating professional development on Zoom leads to what only could be described as a very blurry brain.

Picture this: a young woman hops on her skateboard and foot-propels herself down the street at the town center, with an acoustic guitar dangling from a strap on her right shoulder and bouncing in rhythm to her movements.

The classroom seemed unusually crowded and louder than usual as some semblance of normal, or as close to normal as one can get in a Pandemic, settled in, with every single one of our masked-up sixth graders returning physically to the building for the first time in a year. *

Look through window to the left — blue clouds and sun — and through the window to the right — blue clouds and sun — but straight ahead, the car’s windshield is obscured, being pelted by an isolated snow squall seemingly following you straight down the highway at 60 miles per hour.
