The last days of school for my sixth graders were spent working with a stick figure animation program and here are some of the movies they created:

We used a freeware program called Pivot Stickfigure Animator — found at: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/stickfigure.html
You can save the movies as an animated .gif file and then some kids had time to go into MovieMaker and do some editing, add titles, etc. and then save it as a movie file.
They LOVED pivot and I wish I had discovered it earlier in the year and worked a better storywriting lesson around the use of the software (shown to me first by one of my students, by the way).
