Slice of Life: Moon Over My Shoulder

(This is for the Slice of Life challenge, hosted by Two Writing Teachers. We write on Tuesdays about the small moments in the larger perspective … or is that the larger perspective in the smaller moments? You write, too.)

I spent Labor Day night in Boston, bringing my middle son and his friend to a Red Sox game at Fenway Park (we gave him tickets for a birthday present way back in winter). It was a beautiful night in Boston, and at one point, after many of us in the seats noticed the moon being shown on the small television monitors, we all turned our heads to look behind us.

The moon was dangling in the air, a beautiful orb of light.

Later, I grabbed a selfie with the moon.

  1. That moon is always up there but so fun when we are out and take time to view it, enjoy it! Thanks for sharing a glimpse of your Labor Day evening!

  2. I also love to keep company with the moon, usually on my early morning walks. Hope you enjoyed the game. What a privilege to get to go to Fenway Park!

  3. Funny how the moon just always makes us notice. It is a constant reminder that we are all connected. Your slice was perfect and said so much in just a few words.

  4. That’s a great selfie with the moon! I’ve never thought to do that before. Makes for a great photo.

Sounds like you enjoyed the game!

  5. I woke up this morning before the sun came up. As I let the dogs out, I noticed a bright orange ball hovering over the horizon behind some trees. At first, I thought it was a fire. Then I realized it was the moon, full and setting. So beautiful!

  6. and to think we all share the same night sky. This summer I did not get to Fenway (the son I often go with is living in S. Korea). There are so many memories for me there, so I appreciate your share!
