I have been a participant for many years and each year, I wonder if I will have the energy to write every day. Day Two
The dog breathes
in then out, and
out then in, his
slumber, deepas my wife
reminds me,
so often do I,
a conductor
waving a batonin rhythmic sleep

Love the poem. It’s a perfect description of night in my home. Puck is snoring in the closet, where he sleeps. Snug is sighing on his bed. My husband’s bi-pap wheezes in the middle of the night. I’m awake for the symphony!
I feel like this can describe the noises I heard when I was up in the middle of the night last night.
I love this. I love the simplicity of it. I’m looking at my pup now and see what you describe. Now, I will not be looking at my husband while he sleeps tonight, but I do know that sound you describe compliments of your wife.
