(This is for the Slice of Life challenge, hosted by Two Writing Teachers. We write on Tuesdays about the small moments in the larger perspective and then all through March — every single day … You write, too.)
In fog as thick
as thoughts –
we ought to
slow the car down,
so we do,
then heavy rain arrives:
it’s like traveling
through soup
Peace (safely home),
Kevin
This is so beautiful. I can see the fog, no pun intended. The simile starts this short poem of so well,
“In fog as thick
as thoughts –”
Where I live the rain is just as you described it in your second simile.
Thank you, Juliette … it’s always nice when a poem connects
Kevin
At certain times of the year, we get a LOT of fog, so I totally “see” this picture. I’m happy for you the sun is now out. 🙂
As I look at the window this morning … I think I know the soup you are referring to. Glad you are home safely.
Kevin, you
Have a way with a simile here! Your teaser had me at traveling, and what a comparison! Now I have a new phrase when it’s raining so hard I can’t see to drive! Ever Clever, creative Kevin! I always love the way your mind works
Now you’ve got me wondering if I need to meditate more, to manage the soupy-thick-thoughts in my head. I feel a lot of “heavy rain” coming in the usual chaos of the last nine weeks of school.
Rainy days are sometimes welcome, as yesterday’s was. But I am glad I was at home, visibility was no issue for me. Wishing you sunshine today!
Sun is out!
“In fog as thick as thoughts…” I think that will forever change my fog experiences! (And they will be coming soon, fog=spring in these parts!)
