This is my second post in the 12 Days of AI activity, and today’s Day 2 prompt suggests we use a site called Deep Dream Generator to have AI tinker with a photo or drawing. I took a photo of the peel of a banana I had just eaten, and tinkered with the site’s settings, and ended up with the neat illustration above that turned the banana peel into a bird.
The guiding question for this prompt was all about passing the Ada Lovelace test — does the new output create something “new and surprising and different” from the original? I’ll say yes, for now. I was not sure what I was expecting to happen but I was happily surprised to see the peel become a bird. I had to wonder why for a bit, and then remembered that one of the settings I checked was Audubon, so — aha — a bird! Of course!
I did try one of their other Deep Dream tools for making a video but it was pretty lame. And when I tried a morphing of images, I had run out of credits. So I took that AI image from Deep Dream into the Generative AI Fill tool of Adobe Firefly, and played around with some backgrounds, until ..
Peace (and play),
