(This is for the Slice of Life challenge for March, hosted by Two Writing Teachers. We are writing each day about the small moments in the larger perspective … or is that the larger perspective in the smaller moments? You write, too.)
My wife and I attended the annual Bulb Show at Smith College, in our small city, yesterday afternoon. It’s been a few years since we have ventured into the greenhouse and been awed by the powerful display of colors, smells and pure life on display. It’s a pretty amazing experience, to be walking down aisles of amazing flowers, and I was drawn to look inside the flowers themselves. So I pointed my camera down into the heart of the flower as much as I could, and created this collage.
In another part of the greenhouse complex, there is a room of tropical plants, and this tree was dropping this seed pod, which looked like the furry tail of some strange creature. I could not resist a shot of it, and the way the sun filtered in the back of the photo gives it an interesting glow.
Peace (is beautiful),
Kevin
The flowers are so beautiful and a welcome sign of spring! Can’t wait to see more in the coming weeks.
I needed that flower power this morning! It’s so dark out and this brightened the start of my day. Thanks for taking me on a field trip to the flower show.
Dark here, too. But that means more light on the other end of the day …
I love when you play with your camera. That last one is a wow!!!
Yay!!!!
I know .. I almost ran into it … it was very fuzzy
So glad I clicked to view your amazing pictures!! I love greenhouses. You’ve inspired me to add a visit to the Botanical Gardens in DC to my Spring Break list of things to go during my stay at home vacation! Thanks!
What glorious shots! Thanks for sharing the flower power!
The pictures are beautiful! Thanks for sharing that beauty with us.
The flower show just ended in Philadelphia. I would love to go, but I wouldn’t make it out alive with my allergies. Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos.
Awesome post, and I mean it, I am in awe! Great composition and I love the how you captured that light. Some pictures can’t be shared in words, thanks for sharing the real thing!
